Only prison visitor for Rob Reiner’s son is his lawyer

Nick Reiner’s only visitor while awaiting trial for the murders of his parents was reportedly his attorney, Kimberly Greene.
The 32-year-old filmmaker is being held without bail at Twin Towers Prison while awaiting trial after pleading not guilty to the deaths of Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner.
According to the Daily Mail, Greene has been the only person to visit Nick in a Los Angeles jail since his arrest.
He took over the case after defense attorney Alan Jackson resigned ahead of Nick’s trial in January. Kimberly appeared in court alongside Nick on February 23 when he formally pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder.
Nick is being held under strict surveillance conditions.
Former Los Angeles County sheriff Alex Villanueva said inmates in high-profile cases are often isolated from the larger jail population.
“A high-profile case like this would cause the department to place the inmate in what is called administrative segregation, which is designed to prevent him from being harmed by other inmates,” Villanueva told the Daily Mail.
Villanueva also stated that the clothes Nick wore at his last hearing showed that he was closely monitored by prison staff, adding: “They undergo mandatory checks at least every 15 minutes, 24/7. Some of them have to be alone all the time because they are a danger not only to others but also to themselves.”
“They want to hurt themselves or they want to hurt someone else.”
According to Villanueva, the “suicide suit” Nick wore in court earlier indicates that he may be in what is known as a mental observatory in prison.
Twin Towers Correctional Facility has previously housed many high-profile inmates, including Paris Hilton, Harvey Weinstein and Robert Downey Jr.
Beverly Hills defense attorney Adam Michael Sacks spoke about conditions at the jail in comments to Page Six.
Sacks told the outlet that the facility was “disgusting.”
He said many of his former clients had requested release from prison and that his clients were “begging for bail” when he visited them at the facility.
Nick appeared in court last week wearing a brown jumpsuit and shackles.
He spoke to Kimberly from behind a plexiglass barrier during the hearing.
Nick was arrested after Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, 70, were found stabbed to death in their home in December.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that both deaths resulted from “multiple blunt force injuries” and ruled them homicides.
Nick was struggling with drug addiction and had spent time in rehab before the deaths.
He had also previously been diagnosed with schizophrenia.
Nick’s siblings, Romy Reiner, 28, and Jake Reiner, 34, did not attend any hearings in the case.
Nick is next scheduled to appear in court on April 29.
