Operation Herof 2.0: Baloch rebels seize banks and overrun police stations in massive escalation | SHOCKING VIDEO | World News

Balochistan province experienced chaos on Saturday, January 31, when the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) launched “Operation Herof 2.0”. This coordinated attack targeted more than 12 locations and shocked both Islamabad and the military headquarters in Rawalpindi. BLA described this operation as the “next phase” of the struggle for independence. They are targeting military outposts, ISI offices and civil administration centers in areas like Quetta, Gwadar, Nushki and Mastung.
Banks were looted, buildings were destroyed
In one of the boldest acts of the offensive, BLA fighters reportedly captured the Faisal Bank building in Quetta’s Hazar Ganji area. The militants, who allegedly stole millions of dollars in cash and seized weapons, used mortars and rockets to destroy the building.

Eyewitnesses described a terrifying sight. “The explosion was so powerful that I thought the house would fall on us,” said Rubina Ali, a resident of Kali Deeba. Ayaz Ahmed, an office worker in the city center, said that the explosions shook all the buildings, the streets were covered in dust and civilians fled.

Coordinated attack in 12 districts
BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch confirmed that the attacks were a continuation of the “Black Storm” campaign (Operation Herof 1.0), which began in August 2024. Saturday’s attacks included:
He crossed police stations: Police stations in Sariab, Eastern Ring Road and Mastung were reportedly captured and police vehicles were set on fire.
Escapes reported: In Mastung, many prisoners escaped after rebels took control of the local prison.
CTD headquarters taken: In Nushki, militants claimed to have captured the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) office.
BLA leadership issues defiant message
Following the attacks, BLA Commander-in-Chief Bashir Zeb Baloch released a video statement. Leading since 2018, Zeb has led the BLA toward high-profile, coordinated urban warfare. In his message, he promised to escalate the conflict to force the Pakistani state to end its “occupation” in Balochistan.
Heavy losses and state response
As the conflict continued, conflicting reports emerged about the death toll.
Official Requests: Pakistan’s military wing ISPR reported that security forces successfully repelled the attacks and between 58 and 60 militants were killed. They also confirmed the deaths of 10 security personnel.
Injured Details: Four police officers are confirmed dead in Quetta alone. Reports indicate that at least 11 civilians, including women and children, were caught in the crossfire.
Communication Outage: As a security measure, the government shut down internet service in many districts and stopped train services throughout the province.
As of Sunday morning, the situation remains dynamic, and Pakistani officials state that “clearance operations” are still ongoing to neutralize the escaped militants.
