In a statement issued here, he said 99.34 percent of the census forms have already been distributed, providing almost universal access to voters.
Mitra said collecting and digitizing counting forms is a vital step towards maintaining accurate voter rolls and strengthening the democratic process.
Appreciating the efforts of BLOs, auditors, assistant election registration officers (AEROs) and election registration officers (EROs), the chief electoral officer (CEO) said they ensured timely distribution, collection and digitization of counting forms in all 117 assembly constituencies and 24,453 polling stations in the state.
To further expedite the exercise and further encourage public participation, two-day special camps were organized at all polling stations in Punjab from 8 am to 3 pm on July 11 and 12, he said.
During these camps, remaining counting forms will be filled, collected and digitized, addressing anomalies and connectivity differences, and assisting citizens in updating and verifying election details.
Mitra said that during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive, 24,453 BLOs reached 2.14 crore voters across Punjab between June 25 and July 24. He also said that the rationalization of polling stations will be completed by July 24, after which the draft voter rolls will be published on August 3.
Claims and objections can be made between 3 August and 2 September, and the evaluation of claims and objections will be carried out between 3 August and 28 September.
According to the CEO, Mitra said the final voter rolls will be published on October 1.
He called on all eligible citizens to actively participate in special camps and ensure that election information is complete, accurate and up-to-date, thus contributing to free, fair and transparent elections.
