Paddy McGuinness and his ex Christine clash over seven-bed £6.5million mansion they just can’t sell ‘due to overhyped asking price’

Paddy and Christine McGuinness are at war because the family home, which they put up for sale for £6.5 million a year ago, has not attracted any interest from buyers.
The presenter was accused by his ex-wife’s friends of overpriced for the seven-bedroom mansion in Cheshire because his ‘excessive ego’ meant he didn’t want to leave it.
The couple bought the house in 2020 for £2.1 million.
Local estate agents were stunned by what they called the ‘grossly inflated’ price. They say similar properties in celebrity-favorite Prestbury are selling for at least £1 million less.
Others in the area have dropped the price of their homes for a quick sale, but McGuinness has stuck to his guns since going on the market in March last year.
A source close to the couple told The Mail on Sunday: ‘Christine is really starting to get fed up. He wants to continue, but it seems Paddy doesn’t want him to because the prices are too high.
‘Paddy doesn’t want to shrink. He wants a big house to suit his ego. It feels like it’s a control thing. He knows he will never get £6.5 million for it. Sounds like he’s playing stupid games.’
McGuinness, 52, and her ex-husband, 38, who claimed to be a ‘five-star lesbian’ earlier this month, still live in the same house with their three children, but in separate rooms.

The listing states that the property, located on a private road, is ‘a voluminous house where tradition meets modern’. [and] It’s all about family – but in a polished way’.
Estate agent David Votta said: ‘Many people selling their own homes think they are appraisers, but we have never been in a more price-driven market than we are now. Expertise is more important than ego.
A short walk down the same road and you’ll find a better presented house for £1 million less, with a pool and much stronger marketing.
‘This raises the inevitable question: Is this price tag due to the fact that the owner is a well-known TV personality?
‘Let’s be fair, Paddy McGuinness is a household name. But this isn’t Matt Damon or Elton John’s territory. So why such a high price tag?’
Mr Votta added: ‘A house is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. It seems like buyers aren’t willing to pay a celebrity premium for a home that might not even be the strongest offer down the road.
‘To summarize, not bulky, not rich, optimistic. ‘Overpriced, overdone and understaffed – it’s a Paddy’s Pad problem.’
The couple separated in 2022 after 11 years of marriage. Last year, while Ms McGuinness came out as bisexual, the former Top Gear presenter and presenter of the BBC’s upcoming reboot of Big Break was linked to fellow presenter Kirsty Gallacher.
