Pakistan Cricket Board Bans Shanaka From Pakistan Super League For 1 Year

Karachi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed a one-year PSL ban on Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka. Shanaka joined the IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals side in the Indian Premier League after being first selected in the Pakistan Super League.

The PCB also banned Blessing Muzarabani for two years for the same reason, but his manager Rob Humphries claimed that the player had not signed any contract with any PSL franchise, so his ban was unwarranted and needed to be reviewed.

The player’s unilateral withdrawal from the tournament on March 21 amounted to a clear violation of both the player registration conditions and the tripartite agreement, the PCB said in a statement on Monday, after a thorough review of the latest contract developments regarding Shanaka and the Lahore Qalandars.

“The findings showed that the withdrawal was made on grounds not recognized under the existing contract,” the PCB said. he said.

Shanaka led Sri Lanka in this year’s T20 World Cup.
