Pakistan Deputy PM Ishaq Dar’s grandson prime accused in the gangrape of two foreign women, demanded $1.5 million ransom after kidnapping

Two foreign women who were allegedly abducted and gang-raped in Lahore last week left for Europe after completing necessary legal formalities, Punjab Police said on Sunday.

The case gained national attention after police identified one of the arrested suspects as the grandson of Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.

Victims complete legal process before leaving

Lahore Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Faisal Kamran said the women underwent medical examinations with their consent before leaving for Europe and recorded their statements with the help of the relevant embassies.

The alleged incident occurred after the women arrived in Pakistan on June 29. One of the women is Dutch and the other is Venezuelan.

Timeline of the case

Police said Muhammad Raza Dar first met the two women in Singapore in October 2025 through a cryptocurrency venture. Investigators said the three later became business partners and Raza Dar arranged for business visas for the women to travel to Pakistan.

According to police, the women arrived in Lahore on June 29 and were taken to a residence in the Defense Housing Authority area. Investigators alleged that they were kidnapped, sexually assaulted and imprisoned shortly after reaching the city.
The defendant allegedly demanded a ransom of $1.5 million in cryptocurrency from the families of the victims for their release. According to The Media Line, the father of one of the women contacted the Rescue 15 emergency helpline in Lahore from Spain after losing contact with his daughter and her friend after they arrived in Pakistan. The Dutch ambassador to Pakistan intervened after learning that one of the victims was a Dutch national, prompting an immediate response from the Punjab government led by Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

8 suspects were arrested

Police detained 8 suspects regarding the incident.

Kamran identified Muhammad Raza Dar as the prime suspect. Other suspects identified are Hasan Raza, Sikandar Khan and Sajid Ali, who were detained in police custody until July.

Kamran said that other suspects were also arrested but did not disclose their identities.

The accused were booked under Sections 365A (kidnapping) and 375A (gangrape) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Another suspect, identified only as “Boss” in the initial information report, remains at large and raids continue to track him down, police said.

political reaction

The case also sparked a political backlash after Pakistani Senator Faisal Vawda, who has close ties to the country’s military establishment, called on Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar to resign following the arrest of his grandson on Saturday.
