Early on November 1, a 3.6 magnitude earthquake occurred in Pakistan. Afghanistan, Pakistan and northern India lie in one of the most seismically active regions in the world, where the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. Moderate and severe earthquakes occur frequently in the region, which are felt beyond the borders due to the proximity of fault lines.
Pakistan is among the seismically active countries in the world where many important fault lines intersect.

This collision zone makes the country highly vulnerable to severe earthquakes. Provinces such as Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan are located at the southern edge of the Eurasian plate, while Sindh and Punjab are located at the northwestern edge of the Indian plate, contributing to frequent earthquake activity.

Balochistan is located near the active boundary between the Arabian and Eurasian tectonic plates. Other sensitive regions such as Punjab, located at the northwestern edge of the Indian plate, are also susceptible to seismic activity. Although Sindh is less prone, it is still at risk due to its location.
