Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif to meet US President Trump with select Muslim leaders on UNGA sidelines

The Prime Minister will visit the United States between 22-26 September with a delegation to attend the 8th session of Unga in New York. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will be accompanied by other ministers and senior officials.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (FO) said in a statement here, “The Prime Minister will also attend the meeting of US President Trump and distinguished Islamic leaders to exchange views on regional and international peace and security issues.” He said.
FO, in his speech to the General Assembly, Prime Minister Şerif will call on the international community to solve the “long -term” problems.
In particular, the Sharif will attract the attention of the international community towards the grave crisis in Gaza and call for a decisive action to end the pain of the Palestinians.
In addition to Pakistan’s perspective on the regional security situation, it will emphasize international concern issues, including climate change, terrorism, Islamophobia and sustainable development. The Prime Minister will participate in several high -level events on the sides of the UNGA session, including a special senior event on the high -level meetings of the UN Security Council, the Global Development Initiative (GDI) senior meetings and others, as well as a special senior event on climate action. He will have bilateral meetings to exchange views on mutual interests with several world leaders and senior UN officials.
In addition, it will underline the decision of all UN member states to protect Pakistan’s UN charter, to prevent conflict, to encourage peace, and to encourage global welfare in its current role as a member of Pakistan’s Security Council.
“The Prime Minister’s participation in the gathering of this annual global leaders will exhibit Pakistan’s strong commitment to multilateralism and the United Nations, and will emphasize Pakistan’s contributions to the common goals of peace and development for a long time.”
