Palace 6-word bombshell reveals ‘King’s true feelings on Trump’ | Royal | News

Buckingham Palace shared in an official statement that the King and Queen will visit the USA later this month. In the statement made on March 31, it was shared that the visit would take place upon the recommendation of the British Government.
The statement was released following calls for the visit to be cancelled, even before it was confirmed that the trip would actually take place. It said: “On the advice of Her Majesty’s Government and at the invitation of the President of the United States of America, the King and Queen will pay a State Visit to the United States of America. Her Majesty’s program will celebrate the historic links and modern bilateral relations between the United Kingdom and the United States, celebrating the 250th anniversary of American Independence.”
“The King will then continue to Bermuda to undertake His Majesty’s first Royal Visit to a British Overseas Territory as Sovereign.”
Speaking about the first six words of the statement, “On the advice of Her Majesty’s Government”, Palace Confidential presenter Jo Elvin questioned whether the choice of words fully revealed how King Charles felt about the US President Donald Trump and upcoming visit.
Richard Kay, senior editor of the Daily Mail, said: “On the surface they are just a formality and every visit the king makes is on the advice of his own government, Her Majesty’s government.
“But what’s unusual in this case, and I think this is why, is that while the palace always uses the phrase in official statements, it doesn’t tend to put it on social media channels…”
He added: “I think people are wondering what we’re supposed to make of this. Look at the palace, are we trying to say that the King is only going because the government tells him to? Or are they just clearing things up because they put it in their official statements? It’s an interesting point, but I don’t think we should take it too much. The King does everything on the orders of his government. That’s why he’s going to the United States.”
Ms Elvin then added: “But there’s already quite a fierce debate among people. Some think he should go, some think he shouldn’t go. What do you think? What do you think?”
Mr. Kay replied: “Well, I think he should go himself.”
Fans who went to X called for the trip to be cancelled: “You can’t let the King visit the US. He can’t go on. He can’t.”
Another added: “Big mistake for King Charles to make a state visit to the US at this point…”
