Panic for Putin as UK intelligence reveals huge update on Ukraine war | World | News

Volodymyr Zelensky said intelligence from Britain’s MI6 showed Ukraine’s front line was at its strongest for almost a year, a blow to Vladimir Putin’s war machine. Ukrainian President said that despite the intensification of Russia’s attacks, “in general, the front line is standing.”
Speaking to reporters, Mr Zelensky said: “I have received MI6’s assessment. The situation at the front is now the best for Ukraine in the last 10 months. This is their conclusion and our partners see it too.”
“This is a fair assessment. I am grateful to all our units who made this happen.”
Mr. Zelensky said Ukrainian forces had liberated an area of about 20 square kilometers but the situation on the front line remained “complex.”
In March, the Russian army recorded no territorial gains on the front line for the first time in two and a half years, according to new analysis.
The assessment was made by the AFP news agency using data from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
ISW reported that Ukraine has struggled to make progress in the northern sector of the so-called Castle Belt since the start of Russia’s spring-summer offensive.
The Ukrainian attacks are thought to have thwarted Russia’s attempts to gain ground.
Mr. Zelensky said Russian attacks began to intensify as troops tried to take advantage of foggy conditions.
He said the increasing daylight with the onset of spring makes it difficult for Moscow forces to operate unseen. TVP World reports.
At Friday’s press conference, Mr. Zelensky said Ukraine’s proposal for a ceasefire for the Easter holiday was still on the table.
Easter is celebrated on April 12 in both countries.
Ten people were killed and dozens injured as Russia and Ukraine exchanged deadly attacks throughout the night and into Saturday morning, according to officials on both sides.
Kiev’s air force said 260 of 286 Russian drones fired during the night were hit.
