IPL 2026 GT Review: Check past wins, records, statistics, key moments

Here are the three main areas GT is focusing on ahead of the new season:
TOP HEAVY ENGINE
Gujarat Titans have relied heavily on their top order in IPL 2025; Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler formed one of the most productive top three of the tournament. The trio averaged a combined 55.05 and accounted for more than 70 percent of the team’s total runs.

Gill and Sudharsan consistently set the tone, stringing together seven partnerships of 50 or more, including three century stands. However, this dependence meant that players in the middle and lower order had limited opportunities, and this became a cause for concern when early wickets fell in crucial matches.
FIELD WEAKNESSESFielding proved to be Gujarat Titans’ weak link last season. The side lost 28 catches in 15 matches, the highest number of any team.
Mistakes were costly, especially in the match against Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator, where Rohit Sharma was dropped twice early and helped his team to an emphatic victory by scoring 81 off 50 balls.
Unexpectedly, Rashid Khan, usually among the safest fielders, dropped 10 catches, highlighting wider problems with the practice.
NEW VERSATILE EDGE
Jason Holder adds depth as a multi-phase versatile option. Since 2025, he is among the most effective bowlers at the death in T20Is, picking up 19 wickets at an economy rate of 9.21.
In the last ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Holder underlined his versatility by taking 10 wickets at different stages, including key spells in the mid-overs and at the death.
His ability to contribute with both bat and ball could help solve the balance issues Gujarat Titans faced last season.
