Parliament Budget Session LIVE: Lok Sabha to discuss FCRA Amendment Bill

The Union government is likely to amend the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act in the ongoing Parliament session. One of the key proposed changes is the appointment of a “designated authority” to acquire, manage or dispose of assets created from foreign funds by an NGO or association whose FCRA registration has been suspended, canceled or not renewed.

Another proposed change is to expand the definition of a “key official” of an NGO to include managers beyond the definition of “office owner/manager”; partners; board of trustees; the to the card (head) of the Hindu Undivided Family; officers or members of the governing body or management committee of an association, foundation, union or association; and any other person having control or responsibility over the management or affairs of such entity.
