Part of stage falls during rehearsals for Donald Trump’s event
Washington: Donald Trump’s troubled celebrations for America’s 250th anniversary have suffered another blow after part of the stage collapsed during rehearsals and Democrats accused the president of hijacking the event and creating a “corruption scheme”.
In the video shared by TikTok reporter Aaron Parnas on social media, it was seen that a part of the main stage roof fell while the dancers were rehearsing the song. Candyman. The roof panel fell heavily behind the dancers and no one appeared to be injured.
The stage will be located on the National Mall in Washington and will host Saturday’s main events, including Trump’s speech. It is also adjacent to the Great American State Fair held at the mall.
Freedom250, a Trump-affiliated organization created by the administration to host U.S. 250th anniversary events, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The celebrations were marred by controversies, setbacks and poor attendance. The program at the State Fair is heavy with panels and presentations from Trump administration officials, but many spoke to crowds of fewer than 25 people.

Meteorologists and local Washington officials raised the alarm Saturday as similar conditions were predicted for festivities planned for Independence Day. The main event schedule will begin at 5 p.m., with Trump speaking at 9:45 p.m. and a 45-minute fireworks display starting at 10:30 p.m. or later.
Meanwhile, Democrats released a 55-page report accusing Trump of taking over America’s 250th anniversary celebrations for his own benefit. It builds on the president’s creation of Freedom250, a MAGA-aligned organization designed to replace America250, the official vehicle created by the US Congress.
The report alleges that management initially promised US$100 million ($145 million) in funding to America250, but that amount was later reduced to US$50 million and the full amount was not paid.
It also claims that Freedom250 captures many of America250’s corporate donors who “came under pressure to direct their donations to Freedom250.” Moreover, he alleges that some donors were misled into donating to Freedom250 when they thought they were donating to the congressionally mandated organization.
“If true, such actions would constitute violations of many laws,” the Democrats’ report says; this includes “potential wire fraud and charity fundraising fraud.”
Other allegations made in the report, which this byline has not confirmed, include that Freedom250 solicited foreign money, sold access to Trump, enabled him to enrich himself, and directed federal contracts to friends of the president.
“Freedom250 creates a replicable blueprint for corruption,” the report concluded. It was based on direct interviews with anonymous sources and existing public reporting.
The White House referred questions to Freedom250 but did not immediately respond to a request for comment. However, in an earlier statement to MS-NOW, Freedom250’s Danielle Alvarez denied the allegations.
“This so-called ‘report’ is nothing more than a partisan smear from politicians who would rather sow division than celebrate America’s 250th birthday with the rest of the country,” Alvarez told the network.
“The allegations are categorically false, and it is disheartening that some in Washington are more interested in scoring political points than honoring our nation’s milestone.”
Alvarez also said America250 had failed and accused it of trying to apologize for America instead of celebrating it. “Freedom 250 was created because the American people deserve better,” he said.
