Patna Court Stays Arrest of Khan Sir Till Further Orders

Patna: A Patna court on Tuesday stayed the arrest of educationist Faisal Khan, popularly known as ‘Khan Sir’, until further orders, his lawyer said. Khan’s name had been mentioned in an FIR a week ago regarding the firing incident by the guards of his coaching institute, which was allegedly vandalized by a group of miscreants.

“The court has stayed his arrest until further orders and ordered that the case diary and other past events be produced in the next hearing,” Khan Sir’s lawyer Arvind Kumar Mouar told reporters here in Patna.

The educator had applied for bail on Monday.

The lawyer said, “All the facts were presented to the court in accordance with the law. The court is expected to make the final decision after reviewing the case diary.” he said.

He said the next date has not yet been determined.

Mouar said the court also requested the case diary and history of two guards detained by police on Thursday.

The lawyer said, “Their trial will be held tomorrow. The hearing will take place after the case diary is presented to the court.”

The educator has received “protection against coercive action” and will cooperate with investigators with any questions.

Allegedly, a group of 15-20 people destroyed the Khan Institute of Global Studies in Patna, the capital of the province, on the night of June 2 and pelted it with stones.

Police on Thursday arrested two guards attached to Khan Sir’s coaching institute for allegedly opening fire on the night of June 2.
