Paul Topham: Burglar bashed mum’s 94-year-old neighbour, Harold Monk, to death in his home

The police released images of the moment when a man entered his mother’s apartment before he killed him.
Paul Topham was seen on the CCTV cameras that entered the retirement facility of his mother and wanted to beat the 94 -year -old Harold Monk’s apartment.
After entering Mr. Monk’s apartment, Topham was found guilty of brutally beating Mr. Monk during the robbery.
After the murder, 46 -year -old Topham served in the Wolverhampton Crown court for at least 33 years.
Prosecutors said that he traveled from Birmingham to Wolverhampton on October 3 last year and that he planned to rob Mr. Monk’s house and that he was wearing a black hooded top and balaclava and carried a backpack. T
He entered the apartment using a series of stolen keys during a visit to see his mother living in the same sheltered pension as his victim.
Topham faced his great grandfather in a vicious attack again by Mr. Monk before imposing it again during theft.
When they entered a neighboring apartment, he was terrified and found Topham on Mr. Monk and beat him.
The neighbor immediately contacted the police from the roof of the property and arrested.
Mr. Monk was taken to hospital where he was treated for injuries, including fractures, skulls, spine and ribs.
Despite the best efforts of doctors, the next day, his family died in the hospital.
Before Mr. Monk passed away, he was able to provide vital information to condemn Topham for murder.
Detective Inspector Phil Poole, a detective inspector of West Midland’s murder unit, said: “Fortunately, such cases are extremely rare.
“But Topham’s actions and decisions that night resulted in the tragic death of Harold Monk, and today was imprisoned for a very important time.
“Our teams remained dedicated to bringing the emotionless and cowardly man who killed Mr. Monk.
“Mr. Monk’s statement proved that there was a strong and important evidence in seeing Topham’s locked, and hope that Mr. Monk’s family can now find some peace in seeing justice.”
