Pauline Hanson’s racist tweet should still have been legal

Pauline Hanson should have been allowed to tell Mehreen Faruqi to “pack your bags and go away to Pakistan”.

That’s an odd sentence for a Pakistani immigrant to write, especially about Hanson, whose political career consisted of a long series of auditions for the role of “The Most Stereotypical Racist.” But freedom of expression should not be a reward given after a test of character.

Now, when I say he should be “allowed” to say what he says, that doesn’t mean he should be “applauded.”
