Peninsula eyes yellowcake production in first quarter 2026
Peninsula Energy managing director and chief executive George Bauk said: “The start of acidification at Mine Unit 4 is a significant milestone to round out the year. Mine Unit 4 features optimized shaft site design within a mining area that exhibits strong flow rates, which we expect to be representative of the broader Kendrick mining area.
In the central processing plant, commissioning accelerates as operators fine-tune the filtration, sedimentation, filtration and drying circuits. At the same time, the company integrates a water purification system to remove excess sodium from the process stream, providing a cleaner, higher quality dried yellowcake product.
Additionally, pipes affected by stage one corrosion are being replaced with fibre-reinforced plastic, which has proven effective in dealing with acidic conditions. Work on the pipeline is scheduled to be completed next month, ahead of the production flow from Header House 14.
Peninsula remains on track to meet its 2026 uranium production target of 0.4 to 0.5 million pounds, which is fully consistent with the company’s ongoing ramp-up schedule at the Lance project.
