People Will Not Forgive TMC For Grave Insult To President Murmu: PM Modi

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday stepped up his attack on the TMC government in West Bengal over the treatment meted out to President Droupadi Murmu, saying the “enlightened people” of the state will never forgive the party for “insulting” a woman tribal leader and the President of the country. “Today, as the nation celebrates International Women’s Day, it is deeply worrying that just yesterday the TMC government in West Bengal grossly insulted the honorable President of India, Draupadi Murmu,” the Prime Minister said in the national capital after inaugurating two new Delhi Metro corridors and other projects. he said.
Modi’s remarks came after President Murmu on Saturday expressed displeasure over the relocation of the Santal tribal community conference in West Bengal and the absence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her ministers during her visit.
Soon after, Banerjee accused the President of speaking “on the advice of the BJP” and questioned his silence on allegations of atrocities against tribals in states LIKE Manipur and Chhattisgarh. While the BJP attacked the TMC government for “insulting” the President, Prime Minister Modi called it “shameful and unprecedented” and accused the TMC of crossing all limits.
The controversy has led to further political heat in the poll-bound state, where the BJP hopes to end Banerjee’s 15-year rule.
Prime Minister Modi on Sunday said the TMC government’s actions not only resulted in mismanagement of the tribal community incident but also constituted an insult to the President, the Constitution and the noble tradition of democracy in the country.
“President Murmu ji visited Bengal to attend an important celebration honoring the Santal tribal tradition. However, TMC chose to boycott this sacred and important event which has great meaning for both the President and the tribal community,” he said.
He said the president is of tribal origin and is deeply concerned for the Santal community.
Modi said the “enlightened” people of West Bengal will never forgive the TMC “for insulting a woman, insulting a tribe and insulting the honorable President of the country”.
“The country will never forgive, the country’s tribal society will never forgive, the country’s female power will never forgive,” he said.
The Prime Minister inaugurated two new Delhi Metro corridors and laid the foundation stone of three more metro lines providing direct connectivity to many important places in the capital.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 15,200 billion under the central government’s General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) redevelopment scheme.
The total cost of all the projects is around Rs 33,500 crore.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Modi announced that more than 3 crore women have achieved the milestone of becoming “Lakhpati Didi”.
He said that a few years ago, his government had pledged to empower 3 crore women with annual household income of more than Rs 1 lakh to become “Lakhpati Didi”.
“At that time, many doubted our resolve and dismissed it as a political move. But I am proud to announce that we have fulfilled our promise – more than 3 million women have now reached the milestone of becoming Lakhpati Didi,” he said.
Terming the previous Aam Aadmi Party dispensation in Delhi as an “AAPda (disaster) government”, Modi claimed that it had stopped all development work in the national capital for the last 10 years.
“Now our government is working in mission mode to overcome the challenges facing Delhi. With the construction of the Ring Expressway, there is no need for lakhs of vehicles to enter the city. Our government is also taking large-scale initiatives to clean the Yamuna River,” he said.
