Peppa Pig, Wicked and Formula 1 among the toys predicted to be best-sellers this Christmas

Industry experts have revealed their predictions for the best-selling toys this Christmas; Peppa Pig, Wicked dolls and Formula 1 Lego and Hot Wheels race cars take the lead.

These popular products are among 15 toys that will be featured on the 2025 DreamToys list.

The list is compiled by a panel of experts and toy retailers, from small independents to national chains.

Preschool favorites include Peppa Pig Oinks & Snuggles Evie Doll, Jurassic World Primal Hatch T.Rex and Wicked For Good Singing Dolls.

Celebrating its 75th anniversary, Formula 1 is strongly represented on the list by both Lego and Mattel’s Hot Wheels Racing F1 Grand Prix Circuit, alongside the Monster Jam Smash & Bash Grave Digger RC.

The collection also features collectible items such as the Dress That Will Impress Mysterious Model Dolls, Mini Brands – Fill the Fridge Play Set and Pokémon.

Building sets were the fastest-growing category for the second year in a row, and Lego has two on the list: Speed Champions F1 Race Cars and One Piece the Going Merry Pirate Ship.

The list was published after industry data tracker Circana revealed that the UK toy market grew by 6 per cent in value this year, the biggest increase since 2020.

The UK toy market is currently worth £3.9bn and Christmas is expected to account for 23 per cent of total sales this year.

According to market intelligence firm The Insights Family, parents’ spending on gifts for children is up 12 percent year-on-year; this was the fourth consecutive year of growth.

Paul Reader, chairman of the Toy Retailers Association’s DreamToys selection panel, said: “After an incredible year for the toy industry, it’s reassuring to see families returning to support in-store shopping.

“This isn’t surprising given we only stock high quality, safe toys and have experts on hand to help us choose the perfect gift, but it’s really great to see the support from both local, independent toy stores and larger chains at this critical time of year.”

Melissa Symonds, managing director of UK toys at Circana, said: “The growth of the toy market this year, after five years of a soft market, is a positive for both toy manufacturers and retailers as we move towards the critical golden quarter.”
