‘Perfect’ Mary Poppins-style nanny hired by couple to help run their pristine $1m compound became monster SQUATTER who refused to leave, court filings claim

A wealthy New York couple thought they had found the perfect nanny to care for their daughter at their breathtaking compound; The girl had allegedly turned into a terrifying monster that refused to leave.

Jamie Carano Nordenström and her husband, Philip Nordenström, said they felt lucky when they first hired experienced babysitter Barbara Molnar, who responded to an ad they posted on the Nanny Lane staffing site.

The couple, both busy consultants, invited Molnar to their newly renovated $1 million Colonial farmhouse complex in Hillsdale in upstate New York. Cut reported.

Jamie is said to have insisted on white clothes, food and flowers to better complement his gorgeous home.

Molar initially presented himself as a picture of serene perfection; Her fluent German was a huge advantage for the Swedish-speaking Nordenströms, who wanted their daughter to be bilingual.

Jamie told The Cut that Molnar seemed like a natural fit because he was “absolutely in love” with kids, understood babies, and seemed like a kind person.

However, things started to go wrong when Molnar wanted to move into the annex at their home in December 2024, despite working there part-time.

Jamie, a Democrat and Hillsdale city board member who campaigns for affordable housing, said she allowed Molnar to move in rent-free, in part to avoid any paperwork and headaches.

Chaos ensued.

Molnar defied the pet ban by secretly moving in with a Labrador.

He is also accused of exploiting the Nordenströms’ goodwill, asking them to let his son visit him from the boarding school for Christmas and then letting him stay for a month.

The Nordenströms allegedly noticed that Molnar had started leaving trash around the house and was not picking up his dog’s poop.

Molnar’s annex began to smell of fried food.

But the situation reached a breaking point in early June when Jamie returned from holiday with her husband and baby to find foreign cars parked in her front garden.

A group of young families were swimming in their pool. Jamie said he found the fridges full of burgers and dog hair clogging the vacuum cleaner.

Jamie was too exhausted to argue and went to bed; but was awakened by the sound of Molar loudly banging on the pans.

Shockingly, Molnar is said to have lost his temper when she confronted him and accused Jamie of embarrassing her son in front of his friends.

It was alleged that the couple’s nanny, Barbara Molnar, refused to leave the guesthouse after she was fired, doused it with urine, organized an unauthorized pool party for her teenage son, and filed a restraining order.

Jamie said he fired Molnar after the incident, but said he tried to do so delicately by paying him by the end of the month and offering to help him find a new place to live.

Molnar is then said to have chilled his employer by giving Jamie chapter and verse on his rights as a slum dweller.

Molnar allegedly said ‘You don’t know the law’

‘This is my home, my furnished flat. ‘This is my designated parking area.’

Jamie recalled: ‘We knew at that point that he had contacted us to gain access to our home.’

In-depth background checks carried out by the couple revealed Molnar had a history of disputes with landlords and employers, despite having no criminal record, and Jamie recalled: ‘Everyone said he was dangerous, it was to pay him back.’

“We made a decision initially that we would not give in to his bullying practices,” Jamie added. ‘We weren’t going to let it take over our house.’

This included a homeowner in Chatham, about 20 miles from Hillsdale; She said Molnar and a man she was with paid only three months’ rent for more than seven months before trashing the place when they left.

Molnar allegedly snuck in his dog (seen together) and told Jamie the guesthouse was ‘my house’, with the consultant admitting: ‘We knew at that point he was meeting with us to gain access to our home.’

Another landlord in upstate New York said Molnar owed him more than $27,000, and another claimed Molnar made up claims of being discriminated against because he was ‘fat’ when they tried to evict him.

Jamie said the landlord told him that Molnar had told him he would ‘do anything to keep a roof over his head’ and when he left the house they found writing on the wall that read: ‘Thanks for dropping us off on the street, you greedy old hag!!! ‘I’ll send you a postcard.’

Jamie said he feared Molnar was an unstable hustler living under his roof.

Their relationship became strained and, faced with disagreements at Jamie’s house over why Molnar had not yet moved in, both women repeatedly recorded each other.

In a message shared with The Cut, Molnar told him: ‘I’m interviewing for a few jobs and once that’s secured, I promise you I can’t get away from you and here fast enough.

‘You are now, day and night, 180 degrees away from the kind and generous person you were when we started.’

In a court filing, the Nordenströms described Molnar as ‘a professional conman with a well-documented history of currying favor with well-off individuals, maliciously occupying their property, and then refusing to leave and abusing the protections afforded by eviction laws.’

Police were also called to the property on several occasions as relations between the warring factions deteriorated.

While Jamie filmed Molnar while her former nanny recorded her back, both women became embroiled in a months-long legal battle in which they filmed each other and filed rival lawsuits in court.

Even though Molnar had been lingering on their property for months, he was texting Jamie in all caps: ‘STOP HARASSING ME.’

A judge eventually ordered Molnar to leave by September 10, and the nanny was hit with a temporary protection order from the Nordenströms.

When he finally left, Jamie said the beds and duvets were soaked with urine and the rugs were so soaked that the urine had seeped into the floorboards.

Molnar told The Cut that her life as a nanny was a far cry from her previous lifestyle, saying that she was once the one who had housekeepers and nannies.

‘I’ve lived in castles and probably have more stuff (than Jamie)’ he said.

She said she lived a luxurious life on Park Avenue and among wealthy wine magnates in France, and was even chosen as a model and worked for Parisian fashion house Guy Laroche.

Her ex-husband Pasquale Fabio Granato opened celeb haunt Serafina Fabulous Pizza in New York and Barbara said she ‘lost her mind’ after becoming ‘the king of New York overnight’.

He said he was attacked and later given a $2 million reward in his divorce settlement; When they reconnected years later, he claimed that this money had been stolen by him.

Molnar stated that he and his son were homeless for a while, and claimed that he became an FBI informant to get back millions but failed to do so.

Jamie and Molnar gave conflicting testimony about agreements that Jamie said never occurred, including being paid up to $40 an hour while working for the couple as a nanny, with $15 going toward rent.

Molnar insisted he was allowed to host the pool party while Jamie and Philip were on holiday, saying: ‘He never said you couldn’t invite anyone when we weren’t here. So how do I know?’

In August, Molnar filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against Jamie; Jamie countered that it was ‘baseless, meaningless and AI-driven’ and told the court Molnar was mentally unstable.

“I’m still scared it might come back,” Jamie said. ‘Or try to interact with me or my daughter.’

In court, a judge proceeded to beat both Molnar and Jamie with a restraining order.

It turns out that Jamie is in possession of family heirloom pistols and has been ordered to surrender them.

He told The Cut he only filmed in the English countryside and said: ‘I don’t support the NRA.’

Now that Molnar is away from home, Jamie said he hopes to use the strange saga as a warning to other wealthy couples who could be targets of those looking to take advantage of slum laws, as Molnar claims.

‘It’s like we lost this summer of our lives,’ he said.
