Vedanta Group to invest ₹1,00,000 crore in Odisha

Vedanta Group, a global multinational mining company, has proposed investment of ₹ 1,00,000 crore for development of sub-sectors in Odisha.

Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal met Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday, October 23, 2025, and discussed his group’s proposed industrial projects in the State. According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the State government has assured full support for these investments, including provision of necessary land and other infrastructure facilities.

“The group has proposed setting up of an ultra-modern ferro alloy plant in Keonjhar to strengthen Odisha’s position in the global metal value chain. Vedanta will invest ₹ 2,000 crore in this project,” the CMO said in a statement.

Additionally, Vedanta would set up two new Aluminum Parks in Odisha. “One of these parks will be located near the aluminum plant in Jharsuguda and the other will be located in an area designated by the State Government,” he said.

These state-of-the-art parks will produce high-quality aluminum alloys suitable for use in the aerospace, electric vehicles and defense sectors. This will attract large-scale downstream investments and significantly boost the MSME sector in Odisha.

“The State Government is committed to realizing the Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat. Thanks to infrastructure development and industrial investments by companies like Vedanta, Odisha will achieve this goal,” Mr. Majhi said.

He further stated that such initiatives will not only accelerate economic growth but also create ample opportunities for youth, empower people and pave the way for Odisha to become a $500 billion economy by 2036.

“This huge investment will be a game changer for Odisha’s bright future,” the Chief Minister added.
