Zepto removes handling, surge fees on all orders — How does it compare with Instamart and Blinkit?

Flash trading platform Zepto seems to be done with transaction and surge fees, at least for now.
The delivery platform that changed India’s online delivery system also reduced the minimum order value ₹99 for free delivery.
Zepto battles Blinkit and Instamart with attractive offers
Zepto recently launched a campaign called the “All New Zepto Experience,” in which customers of the swing trading platform pay zero transaction fees, zero rain and surge fees. This applies to all orders.
Zepto introduced a product in 2024. ₹2 “transportation fee for the transportation of the products in your orders in our stores”.
Meanwhile, zero delivery fees will apply to the above orders. ₹99. However, ₹30 delivery fee on the following orders ₹99.
This has made Zepto the only mainstream swing trading platform to date that charges zero transaction and platform fees. Swiggy Instamart and Blinkit recharge ₹9.8 and ₹4 processing fees respectively, while delivery charges for the following orders are ₹199 left ₹30 for both platforms.
Additionally, Zepto has eliminated small cart fees on the following orders ₹99. As part of its aggressive pricing strategy, the company has also discontinued convenience and processing fees on cigarette and tobacco orders.
Blinkit vs Instamart vs Zepto: What are the extra fees below ₹99?
For the following orders ₹99, customers need to pay delivery fee. ₹30 at Zepto. No other fees apply, including processing, small card, rain fee or other additional fees.
On Blinkit, customers must make at least one additional payment ₹54 if they order the following products ₹99. This includes a ₹30 delivery fee, ₹20 small basket fee and ₹4 transaction fees.
Instamart customers ordering below ₹99 will have to pay similar fees. This includes: ₹30 delivery fee, ₹15 small basket fee, ₹9.8 processing fee and 18% GST on such charges.
Meanwhile, Swiggy has also launched a ‘Free November’ campaign, charging zero delivery, handling and markup charges for Instamart orders. However, it is valid for the above orders. ₹299 — A big difference from the Zepto.
How much does 500 ml of milk cost at Blinkit, Instamart and Zepto?
To compare prices, Livemint evaluated how equally a 500ml sachet of milk is priced. ₹Cost $29 on all platforms, Blinkit, Instamart, and Zepto.
In Blinkit, the cost reached this level: ₹88. Instamart was charging ₹94 for the same and the price was lowest on Zepto ₹59.
Why is Zepto eliminating all fees?
Zepto’s latest campaign highlights its aggressively competitive pricing effort.
This also comes weeks after the company raised $450 million, valuing its flash trading platform at $7 billion.
In its statement, Zepto stated that it received support from new and existing investors, including the US-based pension fund California Public Employees’ Retirement System, General Catalyst, Goodwater Capital and Lightspeed.
