Person charged following Ann Widdecombe social media post

A 50-year-old man has been arrested and charged following a social media post about the death of former MP Ann Widdecombe.

Mrs Widdecombe, 78, was found dead at her home in Haytor, Dartmoor, Devon, last Thursday.

Police Scotland received a report about the post on Saturday.

A spokesman for the force said: “On Saturday, July 11, we received reports of a post made online.

“Following further assessment, a 50-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

“A report will be submitted to Mr. Finance”
