Person killed, others in hospital after Sydney restaurant gas leak

One person died and a few people were hospitalized after a gas leak in a Sydney restaurant.

Emergency services were called to the Haveli Indian Restaurant in Garfield RD in Riverstone on Tuesday at around 9.15.

The police confirmed that a person was dead.

Another member of the people and five police officers were taken to hospital in a stable situation.

Fire and rescue NSW manager Adam Dewberry said that more than one person in the restaurant is “gas overcome”.

“Some of these people seem to have been affected by carbon monoxide poisoning,” he said.

NSW ambulance spokesman was sent to the scene of doctors, medical staff, intensive care workers and helicopters.

The spokesman said the two patients were taken to the Hawkesbury Hospital, the two to BlackTown and the two were taken to Druitt Mountain for observation.

“This is a suspicious carbon monoxide poisoning,” he said.
