Perth gran Glenda Joy McGregor, 68, expected to plea over child exploitation material connected to acclaimed author

A Perth grandmother accused of producing and distributing child abuse material in connection with famous author Craig Silvey is expected to plead guilty to the charges.
Glenda Joy McGregor, 68, appeared at Joondalup Magistrates’ Court via video link from Melaleuca Prison on Thursday; Here he was detained for child abuse crimes and failure to comply with reporting obligations.
Ms McGregor is charged with producing and distributing offensive material in 2022 and with producing material in 2026.
Her lawyer asked for the matter to be adjourned so that he could obtain instructions from Ms McGregor.
Magistrate Andrew Maughan adjourned the matter until May 22 for arguments to be made.
“Bail is not being considered today,” he said.
“Your appearance will be videotaped, until then you are in custody.”
It is not known how Mr Silvey and Ms McGregor knew each other, but Ms McGregor was arrested earlier this year following forensic analysis of Mr Silvey’s electronic devices.
Mr Silvey was first charged with possessing and distributing child abuse material in January when police raided his home in Fremantle, where he lived with his wife and children.
He was also charged with further offenses after police examined devices seized from his property during the raid.
Mr Silvey was released on strict bail conditions and has not yet entered a plea to charges of possessing, distributing and producing child abuse material.
He has not yet entered a plea to any charges.

Mr Silvey’s books were removed from shelves and school reading lists across the country, and his publishers, Allen & Unwin and Fremantle Press, halted promotion of his books following the accusations.
