Perth residents wake to surreal, silvery fog blanketing city

Perth residents woke up Thursday morning to a surreal, silvery fog blanketing the city.
Images taken from south Perth show dense fog obscuring views of the city, which lies just 2km across the Swan River.
Main Roads WA warned motorists that fog was reducing visibility on major highways in the eastern part of the city and urged motorists to turn on their headlights.

A major accident occurred when a truck and a car collided on the Great Eastern Highway at around 7.20am, leaving a 63-year-old man seriously injured in his leg.
Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Grace Abbott said moisture in the air, clear skies and light winds were causing the fog to form.
Humidity levels reached nearly 100 percent overnight.

“We’ve also seen some pretty heavy fog in the interior of the south-west landmass and parts of Perth,” he said.
“The fog formed just before sunrise and began to clear about an hour after that and cleared across most of the northeast around 10 a.m.”
