Peter Phillips supported Harry through dark time before wedding no-show | Royal | News

Peter Phillips is said to have supported Prince Harry after one of the darkest periods of his life. The 48-year-old man, who got married for the second time yesterday, was previously thought to be very close to his cousin, but it is said that the two have not spoken for years.

Harry, who currently lives in the US with his wife Meghan Markle and their two children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, did not attend Peter’s marriage to Harriet Sperling at Kemble earlier today. It was previously reported that Peter did not extend an invitation to his cousin.

At the late Queen’s funeral in 2022, Peter was prominently placed as the person standing next to Prince Harry and Prince William during the parade – the brothers had been involved in a bitter feud for several years.

Royal biographer Hugo Vickers believes the Queen may have chosen Peter to remain between the siblings because he supported them after the death of their late mother in 1997, and claims Peter “acted as a mediator” that day.

To talk Online Mail After the funeral four years ago, Hugo said: “Peter Philips was incredibly good with the children when Diana died, so I think it will be very good for them.

“I think sometimes when people behave very well in public, which I think they will, they find it easier to behave better in private.

“Prince Philip and the Queen have been conciliators all their lives, so I’m sure that’s what he would want.”

The King and Queen Camilla take to the stage to lead the royal family at Peter and Harriet’s wedding today.

The Prince and Princess of Wales, whose children did not join the happy couple, also stepped in to support them.
