“This is sad and it will get worse,” Mickelson wrote.
In a subsequent post, Mickelson reposted Hilton’s interview on Fox Business Network’s “The Bottom Line”; here, the candidate shared his support for the White House’s plan to drill for offshore oil off the coast of California. Hilton said his plan and goal is to reduce gas prices to $3 per gallon.
“Finally someone who speaks common sense,” Mickelson wrote.

“Any disruption in oil and foreign gasoline supplies will worsen California’s gasoline dilemma and increase prices. Any disruption in maritime markets, routes, ports, operations, etc. will have a significant impact on California gasoline safety and consumer prices, as well as prices in Nevada and Arizona,” Mische wrote in May.
Meanwhile, Valero Energy Corp. announced that it will close its Benicia refinery in the near future. SanFrancisco By April 2026, it had put more than 400 jobs at risk and potentially caused prices to rise even further.
Hilton, one of the GOP’s top candidates for governor in 2026, has made addressing gas prices a key campaign promise.
“Despite our state’s abundant oil reserves, Californians are being forced to pay the nation’s highest gas prices (currently around $5.00 per gallon) due to Democrats’ ‘climate’ policies.” HawaiiIn the middle of the Pacific Ocean,” Hilton wrote in an op-ed published on Fox News Digital in June.
“California’s sky-high gas prices are the direct result of 15 years of one-party Democratic rule. Gavin Newsom, former Vice President Kamala Harris and all the leading Democrats in the state have become cheerleaders for this ‘war on fossil fuels,’ boasting endlessly that they are ‘leading the world’ on climate change.”
