Philadelphia Phillies player Alec Bohm is suing his own parents, claiming they transferred his money into financial accounts they allegedly managed for him and then used it to pay for their own expenses.

Bohm’s lawsuit, filed in a Philadelphia court on Wednesday, comes after he began reviewing his personal and financial affairs in recent months. The parents allegedly tried to “freeze” four of Bohm’s accounts.

According to his lawsuit, Bohm believes the parents “converted a significant portion” of his money in those accounts to his own use.

Bohm’s parents, Daniel and Lisa Bohm, have denied any wrongdoing and said through their attorney, Robert Eckard, that they are “deeply saddened by the allegations” and will defend themselves aggressively, according to the Associated Press. Eckard claims Bohm had full access to the accounts and paid for his parents’ expenses with personal credit cards.

“Mr. and Mrs. Bohm love their son very much and have always acted in his best interests, both personally and professionally, and they continue to do so today,” Eckard said.

After Thursday’s 2026 season opener, Bohm declined to comment to reporters, saying, “I’m not going to address any personal matters at this time.”

Both parties say the first of the accounts was opened in 2019. Bohm’s lawsuit said his parents told him they had assigned him a 10% stake for management purposes only and that Bohm was the “true” owner of all of the LLC’s assets.

The accounts had various purposes, such as investing in securities or purchasing real estate. Bohm’s lawsuit also stated that they used money from the Alec Bohm Foundation to cover their expenses.

Bohm’s lawsuit demands that his family pay at least $3 million in damages, hand over control of the accounts and hire an accountant to keep track of every dollar they transfer from Bohm’s personal accounts to accounts they control.

Bohm, 29, has a $10.2 million contract with the Phillies through the 2026 baseball season. His parents lived in a recreational vehicle and traveled the country, the lawsuit said.
