Phone off, house locked: Punjab family vanishes after winning Rs 1.5 crore lottery in Faridkot. The reason will shock you

However, fearing extortion threats and fear for their safety, the couple locked their home, turned off their mobile phones and moved to a secret location. A team of police visited the family and reassured them that they were safe, after which they gained the confidence to return home.
“It was only today that we came to know that a lady named Nasib Kaur had purchased a lottery ticket worth Rs 200 about 15-20 days ago and won a prize of Rs 1.5 million from this ticket,” Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Tarlochan Singh told NDTV. he said.
“The family expressed fear that someone might harm them or demand ransom due to their sudden luck. We assured them that the police are always here for the safety of the public and that no harm will come to their family,” he added.

How did the couple know they won the lottery?
According to the TOI report, the couple did not immediately know that they had won the lottery. A lottery vendor from the nearby town of Sadiq called Nasib Kaur’s husband, Ram Singh, after discovering that the Rs 200 ticket he bought had given them an advantage. Nasib Kaur had won the first prize on December 6. However, since Ram Singh was in Rajasthan, the calls went unanswered.
After the family’s whereabouts were known, the lottery vendor accompanied them to Chandigarh to deliver the winning ticket. Ram Singh had been buying lottery tickets for nearly two years and this time he decided to try his luck with a more expensive Rs 200 ticket. Lottery vendor Raju said the family is the winner of the first prize of Rs 1.5 crore. The family has three daughters, all married, and one unmarried son.

Worried that this unexpected event might attract the attention of muggers, the family left their home for an undisclosed location but returned on Wednesday. Faridkot deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Tarlochan Singh said the police were committed to ensuring everyone’s safety, adding that a team visited the family after they returned home.
