Piers Morgan’s bombshell four-word reaction to Meghan and Harry apology | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Piers Morgan dramatically left the set of Good Morning Britain in 2021 following his comments about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey. Piers, 61, left the ITV show the same year after sparking controversy by saying he did not believe the Duchess of Sussex’s claims in her Oprah interview, which included allegations of racism. The incident sparked more than 50,000 complaints to broadcast watchdog Ofcom, which later ruled the comments did not breach the rules.

The Uncensored presenter, who opened up about the outrage five years later, was investigated for his criticism that Meghan, 44, was “over the top”. The broadcaster touched on whether an apology from him to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would be on the agenda. “I won’t do that,” he said in his four-word statement.

“If what you were looking for was ‘I’m so sorry I treated Meghan badly,’ I wasn’t,” he told Grazia magazine. “I won’t do that.”

It was reported at the time that the duchess had formally complained to ITV about Piers’ remarks, which she claimed led to her leaving GMB after he “demanded she put my head on a plate”.

Andrew Mountbatten Windsor did “much worse” than the Sussexes by embarrassing the British Royal Family, Piers claimed.

“They’re not in the same league when it comes to wrongdoing [Andrew’s] “They are to blame,” he thought, “but let’s not make light of the damage they caused when Prince Philip and then the late Queen were dying.”

He added: “So do I regret anything I’ve said about them? No, I think that will stand the test of time.”

When Piers left GMB he said: “I thought the whole thing was a farce and, in fact, I’m delighted that, as a result of that nonsense, we’ve now ended up with a whole network dedicated to preventing this kind of nonsense from happening again.”

Ofcom ruled that the program did not breach broadcasting rules because it provided balance and context to opposing views “forcedly expressed by other presenters and guests”.
