Pilbara measles outbreak: Testing sites opened at hospitals amid fears highly infectious virus will spread

After four new cases were verified in the region on Monday, the health authorities were working to determine the source of a new outbreak and opened measles test areas in Pilbara.

Almost a dozen new exposure area in Karratha and Port Hedland visited a public health warning after visiting various places, including emergency services on both Hedland and Karratha health campuses.

Hedland Health Campus, Karratha Health Campus, Roebourne Hospital, Onslow Health Service and Newman Health Service, including the test sites have been opened in five places.

Measles symptoms include fever, fatigue, cough, nose discharge and painful eyes. It usually follows a red, non -rash on the face before spreading to the rest of the body.

People with measles are contagious for a few days before and after the start of the rash.

Infectious Disease Control Directorate Public Health Doctor Jelena Maticevic, the new cluster shows the risk of spreading more in the region, he said.

“Measles are quite infectious, and if everyone is completely exposed to the risk of developing the disease,” he said.

“Anyone who experiences measles symptoms should be tested immediately.”

Those who visit any exposure position at the dates and hours listed below should follow the symptoms between seven and 18 days from exposure.

The total measles of the 2024 cases of six people, which are more than seven times, bring the number of measles to 43.

Anyone who is concerned that they or a family member may measur may receive medical advice.
