Soham killer Ian Huntley seriously injured in prison attack

A prisoner reported to be Soham killer Ian Huntley has been seriously injured after being attacked at high security Frankland prison.
Durham Constabulary said a prisoner identified as Huntley was attacked at HMP Frankland in County Durham on Thursday morning before being taken to hospital.
A Prison Service spokesman said: “A prisoner is receiving treatment following an incident at HMP Frankland on Thursday morning.
“It would be inappropriate to comment further while police are investigating.”
Huntley was sentenced to a minimum of 40 years in prison for the murders of 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in Cambridgeshire in August 2002.
A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: “Police were alerted to an assault at HMP Frankland in Durham this morning.
“During the incident, a male prisoner was seriously injured and taken to hospital.
“A police investigation into the incident is currently ongoing and detectives are liaising with prison staff.”
