Piprahwa relics of Buddha arrive in Leh, people gather in huge numbers to pay respect

The sacred Piprahwa relics of the Buddha were welcomed with a ceremony upon their arrival in Leh on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, as people came out of their homes and gathered on the roads to pay respects.
The reception ceremony, attended by religious figures and government officials, featured traditional performances, ceremonial ceremonies and sacred rituals reflecting the region’s rich Buddhist heritage.
