Piyush Goyal holds discussion with VP, International Electrotechnical Commission, German Business leaders

New Delhi [India]October 22 (ANI): Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal held a series of fruitful meetings with the Vice-Chairman of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and top German business leaders in Delhi to discuss ways of cooperation in clean energy, technology and sustainable growth.
Goyal met Vimal Mahendru, Deputy Chairman and Chairman of the Board of Directors for Standardization at the International Electrotechnical Commission and UN Special Representative for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
During the meeting, the two discussed India’s transition to clean energy and the country’s efforts towards greater adoption of solar energy, energy efficiency measures and public awareness initiatives.
In a social media post, the Minister said: “Had a productive meeting with @IECStandards, Vice-Chairman and Chairman of the Standardization Steering Committee and UN Special Representative for the SDGs. We discussed India’s transition to clean energy through greater adoption of solar energy, energy efficiency measures and public awareness initiatives.
The minister also reiterated India’s strong commitment to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and highlighted the significant progress made in the renewable energy sector in recent years.
He highlighted how India’s clean energy drive, supported by innovation and international cooperation, continues to strengthen its position as a global leader in sustainable development.
Founded in 1906, the International Electrotechnical Commission is the world’s leading organization for the preparation and publication of international standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies.
IEC approx. 170 countries with nearly 30,000 experts collaborating on its global platform to ensure products work safely and efficiently everywhere.
The organization’s international standards facilitate technical innovation, efficient and sustainable energy access, smart urbanization and transportation systems, climate change mitigation, and increased safety of people and the environment.
In another meeting, Goyal also held talks with prominent German business leaders to explore cooperation opportunities in various sectors.
Technology, digital infrastructure, clean and green energy and advanced production issues were discussed during the meetings. The Minister emphasized that such cooperation will further strengthen the India-Germany economic partnership and open new avenues for innovation and growth.
