Planned Parenthood adds Botox services amid federal funding cuts

A Planned Parenthood affiliate of California is entering the cosmetic services market in what officials describe as an effort to stabilize funding amid federal cuts.

Planned Parenthood Mar Monte’s chief medical officer, Dr. “Our future financial stability remains uncertain,” Laura Dalton told KCRA News. report Released Wednesday.

Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, which is headquartered in San Jose and operates 30 centers in California and Nevada, will now offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) as well as Botox injections for pain control.

KCRA News reports that at many medical spas, Botox treatments will be offered for $9 per unit, compared to $12 or $15.

“We provide [a] Neurotoxin, commonly referred to as Botox,” Dalton said. “And hopefully in a few weeks we’ll be starting fillers and sclerotherapy.”

According to Dalton, the new services are “about patients feeling like we hear them and that we’re listening, and that we’re communicating to the point of ‘We’re not your mother’s Planned Parenthood.'”
