Plastics are still a problem and there’s room for improvement with green alternatives

Most plastic around the world ends up in landfills and takes hundreds of years to decompose in nature. Patrick Drennan writes that the obvious answer is to stop producing plastic altogether or produce it for single-use.

Wood
The timber industry often emits poisonous gases through extraction and manufacturing processes with heavy machinery.
Hazardous chemicals are used to finish wooden products for protective treatment, adhesive application and coating. These chemicals pollute the air and water. Currently, many sawmill processes worldwide result in a large number of inferior products. Wooden products are thrown away.

Glass

Processing bamboo flax often releases harmful byproducts such as sodium hydroxide, sulfuric acid and carbon disulphide. Bamboo building products must be treated against insect or fungal attack before use.
