M6 traffic chaos as police incident shuts busy motorway in both directions

Police closed the M6 ​​in both directions in Greater Manchester as they responded to an incident on the motorway.

National Highways has reported a “serious” road traffic accident incident at the northbound entrance of the M6 ​​at junction J23.

There are currently long delays of approximately 60 minutes. The event is expected to end between 12.15 and 12.30 on Friday, January 16, and traffic will return to normal at 13.30.
