‘PM Modi Is Nicest-Looking Guy’: Trump Reiterates Claims Of Ending India-Pakistan Conflict, Calls Him ‘Killer’ | World News

United States President Donald Trump praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, calling him “the nicest looking guy” while calling him a “killer”. He also reiterated his claim in May that he would prevent a nuclear war between India and Pakistan and broker a ceasefire.

While speaking at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEOs Luncheon held in Gyeongju, South Korea, Trump also gave a hint of a trade agreement between India and the USA.

The US President said, “I am making a trade agreement with India and I have great respect and love for Prime Minister Modi. We have a great relationship. Likewise, the Prime Minister of Pakistan is a great man.”

“And I know all about it. I’m reading about seven planes being shot down. These are two nuclear countries. And they’re really going for it. So I called Prime Minister Modi and said, ‘We can’t do a trade deal with you. No, no, we have to do a trade deal. And I said, ‘No, we can’t.’ You’re starting a war with Pakistan. We’re not going to do that. Then I called Pakistan and said, ‘We’re not going to trade with you because we’re at war with you, India,” Trump continued.

US President Trump added in his opening speech: “They’re strong people. Prime Minister Modi is the nicest looking guy. He’s a killer. He’s tough. No, we’re going to fight. And I said, ‘Wow, that’s the same guy I know.'”

May 2025 India-Pakistan Tension

Trump’s comments on the India-Pakistan conflict refer to the escalation following May’s Operation Sindoor, a series of precision strikes by the Indian Armed Forces against nine known terrorist infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). These steps by India came in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22.

After days of clashes between India and Pakistan, a ceasefire agreement was reached on May 10 after Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) contacted its Indian counterpart.

But the US President reiterates his claim that trade and tariffs play a key role in mediating between India and Pakistan, arguing that the US is effective in preventing conflicts.

In this regard, India has repeatedly denied Trump’s claims, stating that the ceasefire was achieved bilaterally through DGMOs without the intervention of third parties.
