Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed a deep concern about the heavy rainfall and landslides in Darjeeling on Sunday, and condolences to families who lost their loved ones, wished a rapid healing of those who were sure that the authorities closely watched the situation. In an article in X, the Prime Minister said: “The authorities closely follow Darjeeling and the surrounding situations affected by heavy rainfall and landslides. My thoughts are with the old families. I wish a rapid recovery to the wounded.”
What happened in Darjeeling?
Darjeeling and heavy rainfall in the surrounding regions caused landslides, which resulted in many deaths. Previously, Prime Minister Modi, President Droupadi Murmu and other leaders have identified a loss of life due to mishap. PM Modi made sure that the center was determined to provide all possible help to the affected. “He suffered deeply from the loss of life due to a bridge mistake in Darjeeling. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. He should soon be injured. Darjeeling and the surrounding situations are closely monitored after heavy rains and land. We are determined to provide all possible help to the affected.” Mayor Murmu, “Western Bengal, Darjeeling, heavy rain and landslide in the loss of tragic life due to the sadness. The landslide in Dilaralam on the Kurseong Road prevents the main road to Darjeeling, while Rohini Yolu is also affected. The Tindharia road remains open and the authorities are evacuating tourists from Mirik using this route. Police and National Disaster Response Power (NDRF) rescue teams on the field and a portion of the Dudhia Iron Bridge due to the collapse of the Siliguri-Darjeeling SH-12 road was restricted. According to the additional SP of the Kurseong, Abhishek Roy, the ruins of the debris were recovered. Roy, “Seven dead bodies already recovered from the wreckage. We have more information about two people. Works are done to save their bodies. Darjeeling, which leads to Darjeeling, a landslide occurred in Dilararam Road. This road was blocked.
