PM Modi to visit Jordan, Ethiopia, Oman from December 15 to 18

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay a four-day visit to Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman starting Monday, December 15, 2025, with the aim of strengthening bilateral relations, especially in the fields of trade and defense.

On the first leg of his trip, Mr Modi met with King George II to review the full scope of bilateral relations and exchange views on regional issues. He will visit Jordan between 15 and 16 December upon the invitation of Abdullah bin Al Hussein.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said this visit provides an opportunity to further strengthen the India-Jordan relationship, explore new avenues of cooperation for growth and prosperity, and reiterate New Delhi’s commitment to promoting regional peace, security and stability.

Mr Modi will travel to Ethiopia from Jordan on a two-day visit from December 16-17. This will be his first visit to the East African country.

Mr Modi will hold wide-ranging talks with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali in Addis Ababa on all aspects of bilateral relations.

“As partners in the Global South, the visit will be a reiteration of the two countries’ shared commitment to promote close friendly ties and bilateral cooperation,” the MEA said. he said.

On the third and last leg of his visit, Mr. Modi will visit Oman between 17-18 December as the guest of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

This will be Mr Modi’s second visit to Oman. The two sides are expected to sign a free trade agreement during the Prime Minister’s visit to the Gulf country.

“India and Oman share an all-encompassing strategic partnership, underpinned by age-old ties of friendship, trade links and strong people-to-people ties,” the MEA said.

Mr Modi’s visit to Oman will mark 70 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and will follow Sultan Tariq’s official visit to India in December 2023.

“This visit will be an opportunity for both sides to comprehensively review the bilateral partnership, including in the fields of trade, investment, energy, defence, security, technology, agriculture and culture, as well as exchange views on regional and global common interests,” MEA said in a statement. he said.
