PM Narendra Modi makes historic landing at Northeast’s first emergency landing facility in Assam’s Dibrugarh

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a historic landing at the first Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) in the northeast with his C-130J aircraft in Assam’s Dibrugarh district on Saturday.

After his arrival, Modi took off from Chabua airport and landed at ELF in Moran on a section of National Highway-37.

The Rs 100-crore ELF, a 4.2-km fortified area on Moran Ring Road inaugurated by the Prime Minister, will strengthen defence, logistics and disaster response by acting as a strategic and multi-functional runway for IAF fighter jets and transport aircraft, officials said.
They stated that the facility is designed for both civilian and military use and serves as an alternative to Dibrugarh airport in case of emergency.

Prime Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Air Chief Marshal AP Singh were also present at the event.
