Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S. Ramadoss on Sunday said the party will hold demonstrations in Tamil Nadu on December 12, stressing the need for a caste census and implementation of 10.5% internal reservation for Vanniyars in the MBC category by the State government.

Addressing party cadres at the meeting here, Mr. Ramadoss said the caste census will help assess the growth of some communities in the state in terms of socio-economic factors. Accordingly, welfare programs and government initiatives can be designed for a segment of the society that needs to be improved socially and economically. “The fight for caste census is not just for the PMK but for all the 234 castes that exist in Tamil Nadu. Caste census will benefit all communities in the state,” he said.

“The party will decide on an alliance in December for the 2026 assembly elections. Party cadres do not need to worry about other issues as these will be taken care of by the party leadership. Instead, they should work to strengthen the party at the grassroots and bring more voters, especially women and youth, into the party. This will help PMK win more assembly seats in next year’s elections,” he said.

The PMK leader said that voters, especially in rural areas, should cast their votes based on the merit of the candidates participating in the elections. They should resist taking cash to vote. He said this would help ensure good governance by elected representatives.
