Polavaram hydro project gathers pace with advanced turbine technology

The 960 MW Polavaram Hydroelectric Project (PHEP) is set to emerge as one of India’s most significant hydroelectric power assets in terms of both scale and technological advancement, with construction and electro-mechanical works progressing rapidly.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and Siemens Energy are providing the basic equipment for the project, which consists of 12 units of 80 Megawatts each and is gaining momentum.
