Police Bust Stolen Car Racket Linked to ASI’s Son in Chilakaluripet Case

Chilakaluripet: In a major development in the Chilakaluripet accident-related case, police have unearthed a large-scale car theft racket allegedly carried out by Sub-Inspector (ASI) son Venkata Naidu. Narsaraopet police seized eight stolen cars of the gang and took them to the police station. Previously, 10 vehicles were seized, bringing the total number of stolen vehicles to 22. Efforts are continuing to track and seize the remaining vehicles.
The accused gang is currently in the custody of Chilakaluripet police. Meanwhile, Palnadu district SP suspended ASI Srinivasa Rao, father of the prime accused, after his role in protecting his son came to light.
The case came to light following a tragic accident near Ganapavaram on Chilakaluripet ring road on December 4, in which five engineering students lost their lives. Analysis of CCTV footage revealed that the accident took place when Venkata Naidu’s gang allegedly stopped a heavy truck and tried to collect money illegally.
After identifying the accused through CCTV visuals and taking him into custody, the police uncovered a series of criminal activities involving the ASI’s son. An earlier case recorded in 2023 revealed that Venkata Naidu lured the victims with an offer to exchange ₹ 2,000 notes, promised a commission of ₹ 10 lakh and later looted ₹ 50 lakh along with a car near Kotappakonda. The investigation into ASI’s role in this case is reportedly pending with the SP’s office.
ASI Srinivasa Rao has reportedly been working in Narsaraopet for the last 15 years. Investigators allege that the son’s father misused his official position to conduct illegal operations, including the sale of financial instruments at low prices with fake license plate numbers and the smuggling of cannabis. Police allege that ASI repeatedly protected his son, which led to his initial transfer to Veldurthi police station and subsequent suspension.
The investigation is ongoing and police say more shocking details may emerge as the investigation progresses.
