Police charge ‘fake admiral’ Jonathan Carley days after appearance at a Remembrance Sunday event with a chest full of suspicious medals sparked fury

A suspected ‘fake’ admiral who crashed a door at a Remembrance ceremony on Sunday has been accused of wearing a uniform or dress bearing the insignia of Her Majesty’s forces without permission.

Jonathan Carley, 64, of Harlech, Gwynedd, was arrested at his home earlier today after the incident in Llandudno, 40 miles away.

He will appear at Caernarfon magistrates’ court on December 11.

Chief Inspector Trystan Bevan said tonight: ‘We understand that this incident has caused significant public concern, particularly given that it occurred on Remembrance Sunday.

‘In response to reports made to North Wales Police, officers responded quickly to make arrests and pursue charges.

‘We urge the public to refrain from online speculation and refrain from sharing any content that could jeopardize future court proceedings.’
