Police Constable Suspended After Arrest In Posco Case

What are you doing? A police constable, who was arrested in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (Posco) Act for allegedly molesting a minor girl, has been suspended.

Police chief Sharath Chandra Pawar issued the restraining orders on Monday. Constable N. Satyanarayana, attached to Gurrampode police station, was arrested on July 17 and taken into judicial custody.

According to the police, the Nalgonda Town-I police registered a case against Satyanarayana under Sections 11 and 12 of the Posco Act following a complaint from a female student who alleged that he followed her on a motorcycle wearing a face mask and misbehaved with her.

The police examined the security cameras in the area and identified the suspect from his motorcycle license plate number. He was later produced before the Posco Special Court and the court remanded him into judicial custody.

Police said the incident came to light following an investigation of the complaint, which led to the officer’s arrest and subsequent suspension.
