This evening, a ‘serious’ police incident is taking place in a city in England due to a helicopter remaining in the air.

Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed that a ‘serious incident’ took place in Plymouth after a number of residents noticed a police helicopter circling over the city on Monday evening (May 4).

Emergency services were also seen at a business park near Cattedown.

According to locals, the helicopter had been “flying low” over the St Judes area and between North Cross and Beaumont Park since 9pm.

Police cordons were also put in place by Treeby Court with a significant police presence.

One resident told PlymouthLive there were “lots of police and ambulances” on Gdynia Road.

Another resident added: “Big incident on Cupboard Road; helicopter, armed response and ambulances. Helicopter searching parks and streets in relation to ongoing incident.”

Police have not yet released any further details about the incident.
