Police issue image of man after rape at railway station

British Transport Police (BTP) launched an urgent appeal naming a man it wanted to speak to about a reported rape at a train station.

Members of the public are being warned not to approach Billy Ormiston, who is understood to have links to Coventry and North Warwickshire.

The appeal follows an incident at Nuneaton railway station on the night of March 13, when police officers were called to reports of a rape.

Part of the station was cordoned off to allow forensic investigations to take place.

BTP issued a statement confirming that specially trained officers were continuing to support the victim, appealing for information and asking anyone who sees Ormiston to call 999.

The statement said: “Detectives investigating a rape at Nuneaton railway station in Warwickshire are publishing the name and picture of a man they would like to speak to.

“Officers would like to speak to Billy Ormiston, 36, who has links to the Nuneaton, Coventry and Atherstone areas.

“Anyone with information on Ormiston’s whereabouts is asked to text BTP to 61016 quoting reference 708 of March 13 or call 0800 40 50 40.

“For immediate viewing, please do not approach him, call 999.”

Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
