Trump LIVE: First Israel hostages released by Hamas as US president says ‘war is over’ | World | News

Donald Trump boasts that the Gaza peace deal “might be the biggest thing I’ve ever been involved in” as Israel confirms Hamas freed scores of hostages this morning. The US president is currently on his way to Israel.
Red Cross vehicles are now moving towards Gaza to collect detainees as their release approaches.
Speaking before a very emotional day, Trump said: “The war is over, you see, I think (the Middle East) will normalize.”
The deadline for Hamas to release all Israeli hostages (48 in total) into the custody of the Red Cross is approaching.
Mr Trump will then travel to perform at an international summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, before an anticipated tour of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
The meetings will be hosted by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, as well as Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas will also attend, and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres will also be there. Although invited, Iran will not be represented.
